UN FILET D’AMOUR – April to July 2008 – Europa
Created by Marie-Soleil Fortin and Ira Seidenstein.
Marie-Soleil is a circus artiste, actress, clown and visual artist. Graduate in visual arts and graduate of Ecole National de Cirque in Montreal. The first years of Marie-Soleil's career focused as an aerialist and included her work with Circus Princessen in Sweden. She then shifted to aesthetic juggling combing juggling, dance, theatre and performing in European circuses.
In 1999 Marie-Soleil and Ira were coaches at Cirkus Smirkus and they performed as the clown duet YO & YO.
UN FILET D'AMOUR is an arte noveau classic. The characters Madame Yo and Monsieur KoKo represent a role reversal reflecting today's fashions with the olde vaudeville clown. Madame Yo is like a 'Paree Hilltown' who commands her assistant Monsieur KoKo as her servant savant.
One may see the modernization of the mythological La Strada with Madame Yo as a sweet 'Zampano' or as a retake on Chaplin's Limelight with Monsieur KoKo creating a new life on stage from the ancient and classic traditions of Europa and vaudeville clown as he stumbles and stutters to assist Madame Yo. As quickly as she requests, he will make more and more errors.
August 2008 Marie-Soleil will began independent freelance work as an actress and clown. She has played her show Ms. Sunshine (derived in part from Un Filet) at Centre du Pompidou - Paris, Festival du Aurillac, and in Bruxelles.
Marie-Soleil and Ira will returned to further collaborations in during October, November, December.
From August Ira was involved in various projects in Brisbane (FrankenKlowns, Polytoxic Loves You, Whipcrackin Sheilas, Irabatics, Quantum, and healing), Sydney (Master Classes with Legs On The Wall), Blue Mountains mentoring Ruby Bloomers, Melbourne with members of Circus Oz and independent artistes.
